Food and Drink

We always suggest that you book your table with us. You can do this by;

We pride ourselves on serving the best of local produce - check out our 'Local Food Heroes' map in the bar area when you visit!

Steffan Frost, our Head Chef has worked hard to create a refreshing menu with tradional pub favourites alongside more contemporary dishes with some unusual ingredients. The menu changes approximately once a month, reflecting what is in season for the time of year.  Recent menus can be found below as well as our Sunday lunch menu. All of these are subject to change to ensure our customers get dishes made from fresh ingredients. We endeavour to make as much as possible in house - from our homemade breads to our selection of homemade ice-creams and all of our desserts.

Special Dietary Requirements

Because all our food is cooked to order and prepared on the premises, it is generally not difficult to cater for people with special dietary requirements and the chef can adapt sauces, etc. to suit. Just ask and we will endeavor to adapt appropriate dishes to suit your requirements.

Larger Parties

We can take seated parties of up to 55 people in our restaurant area and an additional 30 in our bar area. This can be anything from a buffet through to a seated 7 course meal. Should you wish to hold a private function, Head Chef Steff will be more than happy to create something special just for you.

Generally for group bookings of over 12 people we will need to take a pre-order. Details can be discussed with Vikki or Steve.

Times

We currently serve Tuesday to Saturday 12-2.30pm and in the evenings from 6-9pm. For Sunday lunch we serve 12-3pm and in the evening 6-9pm.

Sunday Lunch

On Sundays we serve our popular Sunday Lunch which offers a selection of 4 starters, 4 main courses (including two roast meats, a fish dish and a vegetarian option) and 4 desserts to choose from. Prices start at £7.95 for 1 course, £10.95 for 2 courses and £13.95 for 3 courses. This often gets very busy and is a real family occasion and we therefore suggest that you book your table to avoid disappointment. A sample Sunday lunch menu can be found below.

Children

Our Head Chef has carefully designed a separate children’s menu which has dishes that are both low in salt and sugar. We can also adapt some of our normal menu into smaller sized portions on request.

Wine and Real Ales

Wine List

Our wine list has been put together with the help of Tanners Wines, Shrewsbury, giving our customers a wide range of choice and fair pricing. We offer 7 wines by the glass, 3 white, 3 red and1 rose. One of our wines in stock has a link back to Pulverbatch. Churton wines' owner use to live in Church Pulverbatch which is known to locals as ‘Churton’ before he moved to New Zealand to become a wine maker!

Wine service is informal in keeping with our pub atmosphere.

Real Ales

Our bar offers 2 local real ales along with a national ale. We are really passionate about our real ales and hope soon to be awarded a Cask Marque. We also sell local cider from Herefordshire along with bottled cider and pear ciders. Drivers are provided with a range of soft drinks.  You will usually find the locals perched at or near our bar. They are a friendly chatty bunch who are very welcoming!

Suppliers

We aim to sell the best that Shropshire and surrounding counties have to offer. Meat comes from local farms and is of top quality. In the game season we are well supplied from local estates and our fish is provided from Barkworths in Shrewsbury Market Hall.

We have started to rear our own livestock on our small holding at the Inn. We currently have Tamworth/Gloucester Old Spot cross pigs, Texel lambs and are looking to get chickens and ducks in the near future. Come and say hello when you next visit!
